The Kindezi School in Atlanta,Georgia was selected for the Safety Focused Safe Routes to School Travel Plan!  Our community has been awarded planning assistance for a Safety-focused Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Report.  Only four schools were selected this year to receive this free additional resource.  Your Safety-focused Report will identify projects for improving walking conditions to your school and a plan to provide pedestrian safety education to your students. Your school was chosen, in part, because of the safety needs for students who currently walk to school and your interest in SRTS.

The Georgia SRTS program awards planning assistance grants to select schools to help them assemble teams to increase the number of students walking and bicycling to school.  The Safety-focused SRTS Report will address questions around the school such as:

Are there sidewalks for the students to use?

What is the traffic like around the schools during peak travel hours

The Report will also address student safety habits such as:

Do students have the skills they need to walk safely?

Your school’s Safety-focused SRTS Report will help identify infrastructure projects that can increase the safety of students walking to and from school that your local government and school district can implement in the next couple of years.  It will also include a plan to provide pedestrian safety education to students.
